Compact Wi-Fi 7 Travel Router

The GL.iNet Beryl 7 (GL-MT3600BE) is a pocket-sized wireless router built around Wi-Fi 7 with dual 2.5 GbE ports and a USB 3.0 interface. It delivers up to 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2882 Mbps on 5 GHz while supporting over 120 concurrent devices. The unit runs OpenWrt 21.02 on 512 MB DDR4 and 512 MB flash for deep customisation.

VPN Users and Mobile Professionals

Travellers who need encrypted traffic on hotel or cruise networks benefit from pre-installed WireGuard and OpenVPN clients reaching 1100 Mbps and 1000 Mbps respectively. Buyers requiring 6 GHz spectrum, multi-gig WAN beyond 2.5 GbE, or desktop-class thermal headroom for sustained loads should look at larger form-factor routers.

Dual 2.5 GbE Ports

One 2.5 GbE WAN and one 2.5 GbE LAN port provide the wired backbone for the Wi-Fi 7 radio and VPN throughput; a single Gigabit port would cap both local transfers and tunnel performance.

Questions about this item

How do I power the Beryl 7 using the USB-C port and what voltage should the charger supply?

Connect a USB-C charger that supports 5 V / 3 A, 9 V / 3 A or 12 V / 2.5 A Power Delivery; the router negotiates the correct voltage automatically.

Which components may need replacement after extended travel use?

The two foldable external antennas are the only moving parts; repeated folding can fatigue the hinges, so keep spares if you deploy them daily.

At what ambient temperature does the router throttle or shut down during sustained load?

The specified operating ceiling is 40 °C; above that the thermal protection will reduce performance or power off the unit.
