Quad-port 2.5Gbps PCIe 2.0 x4 network card
The GLOTRENDS LE8445 adds four 2.5Gbps RJ45 ports through a single PCIe 2.0 x4 slot. Each port uses a dedicated RTL8125BG controller so all four links can run at full 2.5Gbps simultaneously. The card targets servers, NAS appliances, soft routers and firewalls that need more 2.5GbE connections than the motherboard provides. Yellow and green LEDs show 1Gbps and 2.5Gbps link status at a glance.
Suits multi-port 2.5GbE uplinks.
Administrators building 2.5GbE aggregates for storage, virtualisation or router projects will match the four-port density and PCIe 2.0 x4 bandwidth. The board is backward compatible with 100Mbps and 1Gbps gear and works with Windows, Linux, macOS, DSM, OpenWrt, pfSense, Proxmox, unRAID and VMware ESXi 5.x/6.x (ESXi 7.0 needs a driver install). Buyers who need 10Gbps or 25Gbps links, SFP+ cages, or a single-port adapter should choose a different product.
PCIe 2.0 x4 interface delivers 20Gbps total
The upstream PCIe 2.0 x4 connection provides 20Gbps of host bandwidth, exactly enough for four concurrent 2.5Gbps streams without contention. This single specification decides whether the card fits the available slot and meets the throughput target; if the system only offers a PCIe 2.0 x1 or x2 slot, the four ports cannot all run at line rate.

Questions about this item
Will the RTL8125BG chips on this LE8445 card need driver updates to stay compatible with newer Linux kernels?
The card works with Linux, CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, DSM, OpenWrt, pfSense, OPNsense and iKuai; driver installation may be required if the OS does not detect it automatically.
At what total throughput does the PCIe 2.0 x4 interface become the bottleneck for the four 2.5Gbps ports?
The PCIe 2.0 x4 link provides 20Gbps upstream/downstream bandwidth, matching the combined 4 × 2.5Gbps line rate so the interface does not limit full-speed operation.
How much heat do the four RTL8125BG chips produce when all ports run at 2.5Gbps continuously?
The card uses passive cooling with no fan; LED indicators show green at 2.5Gbps and yellow at 100/1000Mbps, but no thermal or power-draw figures are provided.
