What this adapter enables

This GLOTRENDS WA02 board converts a half-height Mini PCIe Wi-Fi module into a standard PCIe x1 card. It carries the Wi-Fi signal over the PCIe lane and routes Bluetooth through an internal USB header, adding 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz antenna connections to a desktop system.

Who should use it and who should not

Builders with a compatible Mini PCIe module such as the AX210HMW, AX200HMW, 7265HMW or a Coral TPU accelerator can install it in any free PCIe x1 slot. It will not accept M.2 Key E modules or full-height Mini PCIe cards, so buyers holding those form factors must choose a different adapter.

The specification that decides fit

The package includes a 3.5 dBi RP-SMA male antenna and two 15 cm U.FL to RP-SMA pigtail cables; if your chassis cannot accommodate external SMA antenna placement, this kit will not suit the build.

Questions about this item

Does the WA02 need a full-height PCIe x1 slot and a spare USB header for Bluetooth?

Yes, the adapter plugs into a PCIe x1 slot and the included USB cable must connect to a motherboard USB port to enable Bluetooth 4.0 and later versions.

Which screw set do I use to secure the half-height Mini PCIe module to the WA02 board?

Use the smaller screws labelled for WiFi module installation; the larger screws are for mounting the WA02 bracket to the PC chassis.

How often should I check the 3.5 dBi antenna connections and the 15 cm U.FL pigtails?

Inspect the RP-SMA and U.FL/IPEX1 connectors whenever you open the case or notice signal drops; the pigtails are thin and can loosen over time.
