22-inch White Beauty Dish

The Glow Edge 22" White Beauty Dish is a light modifier designed for portraiture and fashion photography. Its double parabolic reflector system blends direct flash and softbox qualities for a distinctive wrap-around look with higher contrast. The white interior enhances skin tones and brings out fine detail in every shot. It mounts on Balcar White Lighting and Alien Bees systems using separately sold speed rings.

Lightweight Aluminium Construction

Weighing only 3.2 lbs, the aluminium build is easy to transport between studio and on-location sessions. The durable material withstands frequent handling in demanding photographic environments. A small opaque reflective cover blocks direct light from the source, ensuring even, diffused output without hotspots. No active cooling or power draw is involved.

Sustained Studio Performance

Under continuous studio use the aluminium shell dissipates heat passively, keeping the modifier stable during long shoots. The rigid construction maintains precise reflector geometry so light quality stays consistent from the first frame to the last. The 22-inch diameter suits head-and-shoulders portraits and tight spaces where larger softboxes cannot fit. Photographers needing larger group coverage or different mount systems should consider other options.

Questions about this item

How do I attach this beauty dish to my Balcar or Alien Bees light, and what step is often missed?

This 22" beauty dish requires a speed ring sold separately; the missed step is buying the correct ring for your specific mount before the shoot.

What part will I need to replace or maintain on this beauty dish over time?

The white aluminum interior can be wiped clean; no consumable parts are included, so only the optional diffusion sock or grid accessories would need replacement if damaged.

What is the first practical limit I will hit when using this 22" dish at full power for long sessions?

At 3.2 lbs the dish is light, but the aluminum body absorbs heat from the flash tube, so the mounting bracket and speed ring become the limiting factor during sustained high-output bursts.
