Godox VDS-M3 Shotgun Microphone

The Godox VDS-M3 is a supercardioid condenser shotgun microphone built for indie filmmaking, commercial production and broadcast work. Its directional pickup pattern focuses on sound directly in front of the capsule while rejecting ambient noise. A standard XLR-5M connector provides broad compatibility with professional audio interfaces and recorders. It suits creators who need focused dialogue capture in controlled or outdoor settings.

Upgrade from on-camera mics

This microphone replaces built-in camera microphones or basic stereo mics that pick up excessive room tone and handling noise. The supercardioid pattern and low self-noise floor deliver a clear step up in intelligibility for interview and narrative work. The jump is worth it when your recordings demand consistent off-axis rejection and a clean signal chain without digital artefacts. Battery operation removes the need for phantom power on location.

Fits run-and-gun audio kits

The VDS-M3 mounts on a boom pole, pistol grip or camera shoe for mobile recording scenarios. Its built-in battery provides 220 hours of operation per charge and recharges via a USB Type-C port. When phantom power is detected, the microphone switches automatically to that supply, freeing you from battery management during studio sessions. The XLR output connects directly to field recorders or audio interfaces without adapters.
