180 W ATX power supply with 4-pin connector for HP ProDesk MT and SFF models 86, 89, 280, 282, 285, 288, 390, 400, 480, 600 and 800
This 180 watt ATX power supply replaces the PA-1181-6HY unit in HP ProDesk 86, 89, 280, 282, 285, 288, 390, 400, 480, 600 and 800 small form factor and micro tower desktops. It uses the proprietary four pin connector required by these chassis. Builders working on other platforms or needing higher output should look elsewhere.
The unit delivers up to 180 watts through a standard ATX topology with a single four pin motherboard connection. In normal office workloads the internal fan runs at low speed and stays quiet. Under sustained load the fan ramps up to maintain safe temperatures while drawing no more than the rated 180 watts from the wall.
Measured against everything we stock in ATX Desktop Power Supplies, at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.

Remove the side panel, unplug the old unit, slide the new supply into the chassis, secure it with the rear screws, then reconnect the 24-pin motherboard and 4-pin CPU power cables; the step most often missed is seating the 4-pin CPU connector fully until it clicks
Clean the intake and exhaust grilles with compressed air every few months to keep airflow clear; the unit has no user-replaceable parts, so if the fan becomes noisy or voltages drift, replace the entire power supply
