Ultra-slim Xbox storage expansion

The GoHardDrive HD250U3-Z1-250GB-XBOX is a 250GB portable enclosure pre-formatted for Xbox One and Xbox One S consoles. It connects directly to the console USB 3.0 port for instant capacity without opening the system. The drive draws power from the USB bus so no separate AC adapter is required.

Sustained USB 3.0 throughput

SuperSpeed USB 3.0 supports a transfer rate up to 5.0 gbps for moving large game files. The internal SATA II / SATA III drive maintains consistent performance during extended copy sessions without thermal throttling. Bus power keeps the enclosure running as long as the console port supplies current.

Interface and formatting limits

The USB 3.0 interface caps maximum bandwidth at 5.0 gbps, which is below the peak of the internal SATA III link. Xbox One pre-formatting means the drive is ready for console use but not for PC file systems without reformatting. The 250GB capacity suits a modest library rather than a full collection.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the 250 GB USB 3.0 enclosure produce when running continuously?

The drive is USB bus powered with no fan, so it runs silently and stays cool during extended use.

What must I already own to use this pre-formatted 250 GB drive with my Xbox One?

You need an Xbox One or Xbox One S console with a free USB 3.0 port; the included 4 ft cable provides both data and power.

Will the SATA drive inside work alongside an older USB 2.0 hub I still use?

The enclosure’s USB 3.0 interface is backward compatible, so it will operate at USB 2.0 speeds when connected through a USB 2.0 hub.
