A 2-port DVI KVM switch sharing one monitor, keyboard and mouse between two computers at up to 1920 x 1200 resolution
This KVM switch lets you operate two computers with a single DVI monitor, USB keyboard and mouse. It is built for office desks, server rooms and monitoring stations where a user needs to toggle between separate systems without extra peripherals. The unit supports Windows 7 and handles video switching through its two DVI ports. No software installation is required for basic operation.
The device draws power from the connected systems and includes power-management circuitry to keep signals stable across cable runs of 5 to 10 metres. It produces no fan noise and adds negligible load to the host USB 2.0 ports. Remote-wakeup support lets a sleeping PC resume when you switch to its channel, reducing idle power draw without user intervention.
Included DVI and USB leads connect both computers to the switch, enabling an immediate 1920 x 1200 desktop on the shared display. The wired remote button provides one-press source changes without hot-key sequences. The package contains no additional adapters, software discs or audio cables, so analog sound and higher digital resolutions remain unsupported.

Connect each computer using its DVI video cable and USB cable to the two input ports, then attach your monitor, keyboard and mouse to the output ports; the step often missed is plugging both USB cables in so keyboard and mouse switching works.
No routine maintenance is required; if the unit fails it is replaced as a whole because there are no user-serviceable parts or replaceable modules inside.
The switch supports 1920 x 1200 output and cable runs of 5-10 m, so the first practical limit is the maximum cable length rather than the video bandwidth.
