Simple AM FM Radio for Seniors

The Goodes GES-FM-027-BK is a compact portable radio built for listeners who want straightforward operation. Three discrete controls — a large tuning knob, a dedicated band switch and a volume knob — remove menus entirely. At .95 lbs with a carry handle it suits bedside, kitchen or outdoor use.

Dual Power and Private Listening

Mains operation uses the included 7.5V supply while four AA cells provide backup during outages or away from sockets. A 5W speaker fills a room with clear audio and a 3.5mm headphone jack allows quiet late-night listening without disturbing others.

DSP Tuner Covers Global Bands

The onboard DSP chip and telescopic antenna receive FM 87-108 MHz and AM 522-1710 kHz, matching broadcast allocations in most regions. Buyers who need shortwave, weather-band alerts or digital DAB+ reception should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I set up the Goodes GES-FM-027-BK for the first time and what step do people often miss?

Extend the telescopic antenna fully, then plug the 7.5V AC adapter into the wall socket or insert four AA batteries, press the volume knob to power on, select AM or FM, and use the large tuning button to find a station; the step often missed is fully extending the antenna before tuning.

What maintenance will the Goodes GES-FM-027-BK need over time?

Replace the four AA batteries when sound distorts or volume drops; wipe the casing with a dry cloth and keep the telescopic antenna clean; no internal user-serviceable parts are required.

What is the first limitation you hit when running the Goodes GES-FM-027-BK continuously on batteries?

Battery life becomes the limiting factor; alkaline AA cells typically last a few hours at moderate volume before output fades, requiring fresh batteries or a switch to the 7.5V AC adapter.
