Four-colour drum set for Brother colour lasers

This pack contains one black, one cyan, one magenta and one yellow drum unit built to replace the Brother DR221CL assembly. Each unit is rated for 15000 pages at .05 coverage on A4 or Letter media. The set suits offices and home users who run HL-3140CW, HL-3150CW, HL-3170CDW, HL-3180CDW, MFC-9130CW, MFC-9330CDW, MFC-9340CDW or DCP-9020CDN printers and want a single purchase that refreshes all four colour channels.

Replaces original Brother drums when print quality

Swap the set when output shows streaks, faded colours or repetitive marks that toner cartridges alone cannot fix. The jump is worth it if the printer has passed its rated drum life and you prefer to change all four units together rather than stagger replacements. Buyers who need individual colour drums or who operate mono-only Brother models will not find a match here.

Mechanical life fixed at 15000 pages per unit

The drum surface wears with each rotation, so yield is a hard ceiling regardless of how little toner is consumed. Colour documents at higher coverage will reach the limit sooner than the .05 test figure suggests. The units cannot be refilled or rebuilt, and they carry no chip that resets the printer counter; the device will prompt replacement once its internal page count hits the rated maximum.

Questions about this item

Does the DR221CL drum unit set fit the HL-3170CDW printer?

Yes, the four drum units are compatible with the HL-3170CDW as well as the HL-3140CW, HL-3150CW, HL-3180CDW, MFC-9130CW, MFC-9330CDW, MFC-9340CDW and DCP-9020CDN models.

What is the step people often miss when installing the drum unit with a toner cartridge?

Shake the new toner cartridge six to eight times gently to distribute the toner evenly before removing the orange protective cover and inserting it into the drum unit.

When will each DR221CL drum unit need replacement?

Each drum unit is rated for up to 15000 pages at .05 coverage, so plan to replace a colour drum after roughly that many prints.
