What this pack contains

This five-pack supplies one drum unit for each of the four colours — black, yellow, cyan and magenta — plus an extra black drum. Every unit is a new aftermarket replacement for the Brother DR229CL drum and is rated for up to 30000 pages at five-percent coverage on Letter or A4 paper.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Offices, schools, banks, hospitals and home users who run the listed Brother HL or MFC laser printers and want to cut consumable spend by roughly 80 percent will find the set convenient. Buyers who need toner powder included, who use a printer outside the HL-L3220CDW, HL-L3280CDW, HL-L3295CDW, HL-L3300CDW, HL-L8245CDW, MFC-L3720CDW, MFC-L3765CDW, MFC-L3780CDW or MFC-L8395CDW families, or who require an original Brother drum should choose a different product.

Installing the drums and common pitfalls

Each drum slides into its colour-coded slot in the same way as the OEM unit; no tools are required and the printer recognises the chip automatically. The most frequent issues are forgetting to remove the protective seal before insertion, seating a drum in the wrong colour position, or expecting toner to be inside the box — this pack contains drums only.

Questions about this item

Which separate toner cartridges must I already own to use these DR229CL drum units?

These drum units ship without toner, so you need four compatible Brother toner cartridges — black, cyan, magenta and yellow — that fit the same printer models listed for the DR229CL drums.

Will these drums work in an older HL-L3220CDW that I keep alongside a newer HL-L3280CDW?

Yes, the DR229CL drums are compatible with both the HL-L3220CDW and HL-L3280CDW, plus the HL-L3295CDW, HL-L3300CDW, HL-L8245CDW and the MFC-L3720CDW, MFC-L3765CDW, MFC-L3780CDW and MFC-L8395CDW models.

How can I confirm each drum is delivering the rated 30000-page yield after installation?

Print a test page on the printer and verify sharp, even output across black, cyan, magenta and yellow; then monitor the printer's page counter — each drum is rated for up to 30000 pages at 5% coverage on Letter/A4 paper.
