Sustained throughput on the USB 3.0 link

The USB 3.0 input is rated at up to 5 Gbps, which caps the combined bandwidth available to the Ethernet port and the three downstream USB ports. Under continuous heavy traffic the gigabit Ethernet connection will share this pool with any active USB devices, so aggregate throughput cannot exceed the host link. Practical limits of the USB 3.0

The RJ45 port follows IEEE 802.3, 802.3u and 802.3ab, delivering 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps Ethernet with auto-negotiation and pause-frame support. The three USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible with USB 2.0, 1.2 and 1.0 devices. On Windows 2003 through Windows 7 and macOS versions below 10.9 a virtual CD-ROM step is needed before the adapter becomes driver-free.
