Compact external optical drive

The Haiway NXA125-HAIWAY-VR is an external CD and DVD burner that connects through both USB 3.0 and USB-C ports. It suits laptop and desktop users who still need to read or write optical media for software installation, data backup or media playback. The drive measures 5.8 by 5.6 by 0.68 inches and weighs very little for easy transport.

Dual-connector cable and forced-eject hole

The unit ships with a single attached cable that terminates in both a USB-A 3.0 plug and a USB-C plug, so no separate adapter is required. A small forced-ejection hole on the chassis lets you recover a stuck disc with a straightened paper clip when the normal eject command fails. No external power brick is included or needed.

Plug-and-play setup with desktop port caution

On supported Windows, Linux and macOS systems the drive is recognised automatically without driver installation. The supplier notes that desktop owners should connect the cable to a motherboard USB port rather than a front-panel header to avoid power-related recognition issues. Chromebooks, tablets, TVs and vehicle infotainment systems are explicitly not supported.

Questions about this item

Will the laser mechanism need cleaning or replacement after heavy use?

The drive uses a standard laser pickup; periodic lens cleaning with a commercial disc cleaner is the only routine maintenance, and no user-replaceable parts are listed.

What speed ceiling appears first when burning multiple DVDs back-to-back?

The 8× DVD write rating and 4 MB buffer set the practical throughput limit during sustained sessions.

How much heat or fan noise does the unit produce during all-day operation?

No cooling fan is present; the aluminium chassis stays warm but quiet, drawing only bus power from the USB 3.0 or Type-C port.
