Hammer Anvil Reflection Filter Silver #HA-RF-S

Hammer Anvil Reflection Filter Silver

The Hammer Anvil Reflection Filter Silver is a semi-circular acoustic screen designed to absorb ambient noise and control room reflections during vocal recording. Its chrome-plated perforated frame is lined with high-density open-cell foam and a vented back panel to reduce colouration. The filter mounts on a standard microphone stand using the two included brackets and a 5/8-inch extension rod, allowing vertical or horizontal positioning for voice capture.

Practical limits of passive acoustic treatment

This filter only addresses reflections that reach its surface; it cannot block low-frequency transmission through walls or eliminate noise sources behind the microphone. Performance depends on the distance between the vocalist and the filter, the room's existing reverberation time, and the microphone's polar pattern. In untreated spaces with strong flutter echo, the improvement is noticeable but not equivalent to a fully treated booth.

Upgrade from improvised or no treatment

The filter replaces makeshift solutions such as duvet forts, foam panels taped to walls, or recording in a closet, providing a portable, repeatable setup for home studios and mobile broadcasters. The jump is worthwhile when you need consistent vocal isolation across sessions but cannot install permanent acoustic panels or require a solution that packs down for transport.
