16-channel PoE NVR with 8 TB storage

The Hanwha Techwin XRN-1620SB1-8TB is an Intel-based network video recorder that supports up to 16 PoE or PoE+ cameras through its built-in ports. It ships with 8 TB of raw storage and can record at up to 32 MP resolution per channel. The unit handles a maximum incoming bitrate of 140 Mbps for recording.

200 W PoE budget and H.265 efficiency

A total PoE budget of 200 W powers all connected cameras without external injectors. H.265, H.264 and MJPEG codec support reduces bandwidth and storage consumption during continuous recording. HDMI and VGA outputs provide local monitoring with a user-friendly interface.

Four SATA bays expand to 24 TB

Four internal SATA drive bays allow the raw capacity to grow from 8 TB up to 24 TB. Plug-and-play PoE ports simplify camera installation by delivering power and data over a single cable. AI search functions require compatible Wisenet AI cameras, and dynamic event support adds new camera events without firmware updates. Buyers needing more than 16 channels or non-PoE camera integration should consider other solutions.

Questions about this item

How do I connect cameras to the 16 PoE ports and what step is often missed?

Plug each camera into one of the 16 PoE ports; the unit supplies up to 200W total PoE budget, so verify the combined camera draw stays within that limit before powering on.

Which drive bays and capacity ceiling apply when I need more storage later?

Four internal SATA bays accept drives up to a combined 24TB raw capacity; add or replace drives in those bays when the 8TB factory drive fills.

At what sustained recording bitrate does the NVR hit its throughput ceiling?

The recorder caps network camera ingest at 140Mbps; continuous streams exceeding that aggregate rate will be the first limit reached under heavy load.
