3/4" Clear PVC Y Strainer for Pool Filtration

This Hayward Y strainer installs in 3/4 inch socket connections to protect pool pumps and filtration equipment from debris. The transparent PVC housing allows visual inspection of the screen without disassembly. Rated for 150 psi working pressure, it suits residential and light commercial pool plumbing systems.

20 Mesh PVC Screen Included

The strainer ships with a 20 mesh PVC screen installed, capturing particles before they reach sensitive components. A 3/4 inch blow-off port enables quick flushing of collected debris without removing the screen. The 6.8 gpm Cv flow factor indicates minimal pressure drop across the clean element.

Maximum 125 psi at 100°F Operating Limit

The housing withstands 150 psi, but the pressure rating drops to 125 psi at 100 degrees Fahrenheit, so installers must verify system temperatures stay within this envelope. Builders needing higher temperature ratings or finer filtration mesh should select a different model.

Questions about this item

How often does the 20 mesh PVC screen need cleaning or replacement?

The 20 mesh PVC screen traps debris and should be inspected regularly; clean or replace it when flow drops below the 6.8 gpm Cv factor or during seasonal maintenance.

What pressure limit appears first during continuous operation at 100 °F?

The housing is rated for 125 psi at 100 °F, so sustained pressure above that level is the first limit reached under constant use.

How much heat does the clear PVC body add to the water when running all day?

The PVC housing does not generate heat; it simply contains the flow, so water temperature rise comes only from the pump and ambient conditions.
