Compact 40mm 12V Fan Pair

Two Haywards DBTB0428B2G axial fans measure 40 by 40 by 28 millimetres and run on 12 volts with a four-wire PWM interface. Double ball bearings support a rated life of 70000 hours. Each unit draws up to 1 ampere and 12 watts while spinning at up to 18000 RPM with a tolerance of ten percent.

Suited for Tight Chassis Cooling

Builders fitting small-form-factor cases or rack cabinets who need focused airflow will appreciate the 19.4 CFM rating and PWM speed control. The operating range of 7.0 to 13.4 volts allows some voltage flexibility. Users sensitive to noise should note the 54 dB rating at full speed and consider quieter alternatives.

High Speed Airflow Headroom

At maximum RPM the pair moves 19.4 CFM through restrictive grilles or heatsinks, giving headroom for dense component layouts. The 54 dB noise level marks the practical ceiling for desktop use; sustained loads near the top of the speed range will be audible. The 70000-hour bearing life provides long-term reliability within the specified voltage window.

Questions about this item

Does the DBTB0428B2G need a 4-pin PWM header on the motherboard or fan controller to run?

Yes, it uses a 4-wire interface that plugs into a standard 4-pin PWM header for power and speed control.

Will the 40 mm frame and 28 mm depth fit in the same mounting holes as my old 80 mm NMB 8020 chassis fan?

No, the 40×40×28 mm dimensions are much smaller than an 80 mm fan, so the mounting pattern is different.

How can I confirm the fan is spinning at the rated 18000 RPM after installation?

The 4-wire interface provides a speed-measurement signal; read the RPM in BIOS or monitoring software and verify it reaches about 18000 RPM.
