A physical switch selects between charging the host device or enabling OTG data mode. It is built for Android users who need to attach a keyboard, mouse, flash drive, card reader or game controller while on the move.

USB 2.0 OTG interface limits

The hub runs at USB 2.0 speeds and draws power from the host device. The Micro USB female port accepts a charger only when the switch is set to Charge; in this position OTG data is disabled. When the switch is set to OTG the host cannot charge and the hub cannot power bus-powered hard drives. Two low-power peripherals such as a keyboard and a flash drive can operate simultaneously.

Capacity and headroom

The adapter comfortably handles mice, keyboards, USB flash drives, card readers and game controllers. It runs out of headroom with mechanical hard drives or other high-current devices that exceed the host port's current budget. The Micro USB female port supplies power to the hub itself and cannot charge the connected phone or tablet. It is not suited for users who need to charge while using peripherals or who require USB 3.0 transfer rates.
