HGST 0J12282 Travelstar 7K750 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" laptop hard drive

Drive identity

The HGST Travelstar 7K750 is a 2.5 inch laptop hard drive spinning at 7200 RPM with a 16MB cache. It connects through a SATA 3.0Gb/s interface and fits the standard 9.5mm drive bay found in most notebooks. The model number is 0J12282. It is built for users who need a direct mechanical replacement for an existing drive in a portable computer.

Capacity choice

The single specification that decides fit is the platter density of 375GB per platter, which determines the total capacity available in this two-disk design. Capacities offered are 500GB, 640GB and 750GB, so the buyer must select the exact size that matches the original drive or the storage requirement. No other capacity options exist for this model. Buyers who want more storage than 750GB cannot use this drive.

Sustained behaviour

Advanced Format increases the physical sector size from 512 bytes to 4096 bytes, which improves error correction during long write sessions. Average latency is 4.2ms at 7200 RPM, so sustained throughput remains steady rather than peaking only in short bursts. The 16MB cache buffers repeated small requests without forcing the platters to seek constantly. Builders who need a second drive for a desktop array should verify bay spacing first.
