Travelstar C4K60 40 GB IDE drive

The HGST Travelstar C4K60 HTC426040G9AT00 is a 40 GB internal hard drive built for 1.8-inch laptop bays. It uses a 50-pin IDE Ultra ATA/100 interface and spins at 4200 rpm with a 2 MB cache. This new drive suits legacy ultra-portable devices needing direct IDE replacement.

Ideal for legacy 1.8-inch IDE bays

This drive fits ultra-portable laptops and embedded systems that require a 1.8-inch form factor with a traditional 50-pin IDE connection. It will not suit machines that need a different physical width, connector type or higher capacity than 40 GB.

40 GB capacity on 1.8-inch IDE

The single specification that decides fit is the 40 GB capacity delivered through a 1.8-inch IDE Ultra ATA/100 interface. Verify your device accepts this exact connector and form factor before purchase.

Questions about this item

What does the 4200 rpm spindle speed mean for everyday use in a laptop?

The 4200 rpm rotation gives modest transfer rates suitable for basic file storage and light application loading in an ultra-portable device.

What does the IDE Ultra ATA/100 interface limit in practice?

The IDE Ultra ATA/100 connection caps the maximum burst transfer rate at 100 MB/s and uses a traditional 50-pin connector.

Will the 1.8-inch drive with 0.4-inch height fit my ultra-portable's drive bay?

The drive measures 1.8 inches wide, 2.4 inches deep and 0.4 inches high, matching the standard 1.8-inch IDE form factor for ultra-portable bays.
