Edition XS planar headphone

The HiFiMAN Edition XS is an open-back planar magnetic headphone designed for critical listening at home or in the studio. It uses Stealth Magnet technology and a NEO supernano diaphragm to reduce wave diffraction and distortion. The wired connection terminates in a 3.5 mm jack for broad compatibility with audio sources.

For audiophiles seeking accuracy

This model suits listeners who prioritise a wide, natural soundstage and detailed imaging over portable convenience. The open-back design leaks sound and offers no isolation, so it is not for commuters, office environments or anyone needing active noise cancellation or wireless freedom.

Simple wired setup

Installation is limited to plugging the detachable cable into the headphone and your 3.5 mm source output. The adjustable headband fits most heads without tools. The main friction point is the open-back design, which requires a quiet room to prevent external noise from masking the detailed presentation.

Questions about this item

What source connector do I need to plug the Edition XS headphones into?

The Edition XS uses a wired 3.5 mm jack, so your source must provide a matching 3.5 mm headphone output or an adapter to that size.

Will the open planar magnetic design leak sound into a quiet room while I keep my existing closed-back headphones for tracking?

Yes, the open-back Edition XS radiates sound outward, so people nearby will hear it; your closed-back pair remains the better choice when isolation is required.

How can I verify the NEO supernano diaphragm is performing correctly after I connect the headphones?

Play a well-recorded track and listen for a wide, natural soundstage with detailed imaging and low distortion — the qualities the NEO supernano diaphragm is designed to deliver.
