22-Inch Deep Two-Drawer Vertical File

The Hirsh Industries 17889 is a commercial-grade vertical file cabinet built for business, educational, or personal offices. Its letter-width design accepts standard hanging folders and ships fully assembled for immediate use. A non-porous surface allows easy cleaning and disinfection, while a core-removable lock supports keyed-alike configurations. The putty finish suits a variety of professional environments.

Capacity and Drawer Performance

Two drawers on 80% extension ball-bearing slides open smoothly even when fully loaded with documents. Adjustable follower wires keep files upright and organised inside each drawer. The 22-inch depth provides generous storage capacity for letter-size paperwork in high-volume settings. Drawers run out of space only when document volume exceeds the physical limits of the two-drawer letter-width footprint.

Upgrade Context

This cabinet replaces smaller desktop organisers or lightweight residential files that lack full-extension slides or locking security. The jump is worth it when daily access demands smooth operation under heavy loads and compliance with ANSI-BIFMA performance standards is required. It is not suited for buyers who need legal-width filing, lateral drawer orientation, or more than two drawers in a single unit.

Questions about this item

Will the 22-inch depth fit alongside my existing letter-width filing system?

The cabinet is built to standard letter width, so it aligns with other letter-size vertical files and sits flush in a continuous run of cabinets.

How can I verify the drawers operate correctly once the unit is in place?

Pull each drawer fully; the 80% extension ball-bearing slides should glide smoothly even when loaded, and the adjustable follower wires will keep folders upright.

Does the 17889 ship with hanging rails and keys, or must I purchase them separately?

It arrives fully assembled with hanging rails installed, a core-removable lock and two keys included; no extra parts are needed for basic filing.
