Scale and purpose

This 1/72 scale diecast model reproduces the Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet in VFC-12 US Navy markings from June 2021. It is aimed at adult collectors and military-history enthusiasts who want a display-grade replica with accurate panel lines, antennas and surface details. The officially licensed Air Power Series item arrives in its original unopened box with a display stand and missile accessories included.

Materials and handling

Diecast metal and plastic construction gives the model a heavy, realistic feel while keeping the detailed exterior durable enough for occasional repositioning. At approximately 10 inches long with a 7.5 inch wingspan it fits on a standard shelf or desk without special mounting. No batteries or power are involved so there is no heat, noise or electrical draw to consider.

Long-term display stability

The solid metal frame resists warping over time and the factory paint finish is designed to remain stable under normal indoor lighting. Because the model is static with no moving parts or electronics, sustained exhibition does not degrade any mechanism or generate wear. The included stand supports the airframe securely for continuous upright presentation.

Questions about this item

How do I attach the model to the included display stand, and what step do people often miss?

Slide the fuselage onto the stand's mounting peg, aligning the recessed slot underneath; the step often missed is pressing firmly until you hear a click so the model sits level.

What parts might need replacement after long-term display?

The small missile accessories can loosen or go missing if the model is moved frequently; keep spares in the original box for easy replacement.

At what point does the diecast metal construction show its limits under sustained handling?

Repeated removal from the stand stresses the thin landing-gear doors and antenna details, which can bend or snap before the main airframe shows wear.
