Scale & Subject

This 1/72 scale diecast model replicates the Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet "Green Hornet" operated by VX-23 Salty Dogs at NAS Patuxent River in 2011. It arrives in the manufacturer's original unopened packaging and features true-to-scale detail throughout. The construction blends diecast metal and plastic for a heavy, realistic feel.

Collector Fit

The model suits collectors and enthusiasts of military aviation history who value licensed accuracy and display-ready features. It includes a pilot figure, opening canopy, display stand, and detachable ordnance loads for configuration options. Builders who want a kit requiring assembly or paint should look elsewhere.

Display Integration

The finished replica measures approximately 10 inches long with a 7.5 inch wingspan, fitting standard display shelves without additional hardware. The included stand supports the aircraft directly, freeing space around it for other 1/72 scale subjects. No batteries or tools are needed for presentation.

Questions about this item

What display space do the 10-inch length and 7.5-inch wingspan need?

Allow at least 10 inches of length and 7.5 inches of width on a shelf or desk so the model and its included stand fit without overhang.

Can the detachable ordnance and opening canopy be left off to show the cockpit interior alongside other 1/72 aircraft?

Yes, the ordnance loads and canopy are removable, so you can display the pilot figure and cockpit details next to other 1/72 scale models.

How do I confirm the model matches the 2011 Green Hornet release?

Check the box and model for the bureau number 165875, VX-23 Salty Dogs markings and the 2011 Air Power Series branding.
