HOFFMAN Wall-Mount Enclosure CW1 20x20x6 Gray NEMA 4/12 Steel

Wall-Mount Enclosure CW1 20x20x6

The Hoffman CW1 series enclosure is a carbon steel box rated NEMA 4 and 12 for indoor and outdoor use. It measures 20.00 inches high by 20.00 inches wide by 6.00 inches deep with a gray ANSI 61 polyester powder finish. The hinged solid cover uses a quarter-turn latch with a screwdriver slot and a polyurethane gasket. Grounding hardware and sealing washers are included along with interior panel 32FK16.

Upgrade from open or lower-rated boxes

This enclosure replaces unsealed junction boxes or NEMA 1 general-purpose cabinets when the installation demands protection against falling dirt, circulating dust, lint, fibers and light splashing or hose-directed water. The jump is worth it when the environment requires an IP66 rating and compliance with UL, cUL, CSA and IEC standards for personnel safety. It is not for buyers who need a larger internal volume or a deeper body for bulkier components.

Limits of NEMA 4/12 steel construction

The 14, 16 or 18 gauge steel body and quarter-turn latch provide a robust seal but rely on manual tightening for ingress protection. The 6.00 inch depth restricts the size of terminal blocks, relays or DIN-rail assemblies that can be fitted behind the door. The solid cover prevents visual inspection of internal status indicators without opening the enclosure. It is not suited for applications requiring transparent windows, sub-panel adjustability beyond the fixed 32FK16 panel or environments exceeding the NEMA 4/12 and IP66 ratings.
