HON 600 Series Two-Drawer Lateral File

The HON 682LQ is a 36-inch wide lateral filing cabinet built for offices that need secure, high-density document storage. Its two-drawer layout suits workspaces where floor space is limited but filing volume remains high. The unit arrives new and ready to assemble into a complete filing solution.

Double-walled steel construction

Double-walled base construction and a phosphate pre-treatment under the baked enamel finish give the cabinet maximum rigidity and corrosion resistance. Four adjustable leveling glides compensate for uneven floors, while a mechanical interlock allows only one drawer to open at a time to inhibit tipping. The included counterweight meets ANSI/BIFMA stability requirements where applicable.

Smooth ball-bearing suspension

Heavy-duty, three-part telescoping steel ball-bearing suspension delivers smooth, quiet drawer operation through the full extension cycle. Drawers include side-to-side hangrails for letter or legal folders and feature drawer-extension restraints for controlled movement. The HON One Key interchangeable core lock secures both sides of each drawer with a single turn.

Questions about this item

What stability standard does the 600 Series lateral file meet with its included counterweight?

The counterweight allows the unit to meet ANSI / BIFMA stability requirements, preventing tipping during use.

How much floor clearance do the four adjustable leveling glides provide for uneven surfaces?

Each glide can be turned independently to level the 28.38-inch-high cabinet on uneven flooring without tools.

How do you install the HON One Key interchangeable core, and what step is often missed?

Insert the control key, turn clockwise, pull the core out, then insert the new core with its key installed; forgetting to leave the new key in during insertion prevents the core from locking into place.
