Five-Drawer Lateral File 600 Series

The HON 685LQ is a five-drawer lateral file from the 600 Series, finished in Light Gray steel. It provides a roll-out posting shelf in the top drawer and four full-extension drawers below for side-to-side letter or legal filing. A mechanical interlock allows only one drawer open at a time, and a counterweight is included where required to meet ANSI/BIFMA stability standards. Adjustable leveling glides compensate for uneven floors.

Suits high-density paper archives.

This cabinet suits offices that need high-density paper storage with secure, single-drawer access and a durable baked enamel finish. The 67.00-inch height and 36.00-inch width demand generous wall space and clearance for full drawer extension. Buyers with limited floor area or who need frequent top-surface workspace should consider lower-profile storage instead.

19.25-inch depth sets aisle clearance

The unit’s 19.25-inch depth is the critical dimension for planning aisle space and wall placement. At 36.00 inches wide and 67.00 inches tall, it requires a continuous clear zone for the telescoping ball-bearing drawers to extend fully without obstruction. Verify the installation path and final location can accommodate these exact measurements before ordering.

Questions about this item

What floor space does the 685LQ need to sit level?

The cabinet measures 36.00 inches wide by 19.25 inches deep and includes four adjustable leveling glides to compensate for uneven flooring.

Can the 600 Series file work safely next to older lateral files that lack an interlock?

Yes, the mechanical interlock on this unit allows only one drawer to open at a time, inhibiting tipping regardless of adjacent cabinets.

How do I confirm the 685LQ drawers are running on the ball-bearing suspension as intended?

Open each drawer fully; it should glide smoothly on the heavy-duty three-part telescoping steel ball-bearing suspension without binding or excessive force.
