Two-Drawer Lateral File 42w

The HON 692LQ 600 Series two-drawer lateral file measures 42 inches wide and 19 inches deep in Light Gray. It is built for offices that need side-to-side filing of letter or legal folders in a secure, lockable unit. The reinforced case steel construction and double-walled base provide structural rigidity for daily use. This cabinet suits professional environments that prioritise organised document storage.

Thermals Noise Power

As a passive steel storage cabinet, the unit generates no operational noise and draws no electrical power. The baked enamel finish over rust-inhibiting phosphate pretreatment resists surface heat from ambient conditions without active cooling. There are no fans, motors or electronic components to produce heat or sound. The cabinet remains thermally neutral in any office setting.

Build Quality Connectors Mounting

Four adjustable leveling guides stabilise the cabinet on uneven floors without permanent mounting hardware. The HON One Key interchangeable core-removable lock secures both drawers simultaneously via a mechanical interlock that prevents opening more than one drawer at a time. Aluminium recessed pulls and plastic label holders are integrated into the flush drawer fronts. Telescoping ball-bearing suspension ensures smooth drawer travel. Counterweight included where required.

Questions about this item

How do I install the adjustable hangrails for letter- or legal-size folders?

Slide the included hangrails into the drawer side slots and lock them at the letter or legal position; the step often missed is tightening the set screw so the rails cannot shift when drawers are fully loaded.

What maintenance will the ball-bearing suspension need over time?

Wipe the telescoping rails clean and apply a light dry lubricant once a year; the counterweight is factory-sealed and requires no service.

What limit appears first when both drawers stay fully extended under heavy daily use?

The mechanical interlock prevents opening the second drawer while the first is out, so the practical limit is single-drawer access at a time.
