Three-drawer lateral file

The HON 693LQ 600 Series three-drawer lateral file provides secure, high-density filing for letter and legal folders. Its 42-inch width fits standard office footprints while the Light Gray steel finish resists scratches and corrosion. A factory-installed counterweight meets ANSI/BIFMA stability requirements.

Offices needing side-to-side folder access

This cabinet suits workspaces that store files laterally and require a single lock to secure every drawer. The mechanical interlock prevents multiple drawers opening simultaneously, so it is not for users who want several drawers open at once. Buyers needing vertical drawer orientation or a different width should consider other configurations.

42-inch wide steel case with three drawers

The unit measures 42.00 inches wide, 40.88 inches high and 19.25 inches deep, delivering three full-extension drawers on heavy-duty ball-bearing suspension. Four adjustable leveling glides compensate for uneven floors. HON One Key interchangeable cores allow the lock to be re-keyed to match existing office furniture.

Questions about this item

How much weight can the three drawers hold when fully loaded day after day?

The 600 Series lateral file meets ANSI / BIFMA stability requirements and includes a counterweight where applicable, so the cabinet remains stable even with all three drawers fully loaded.

Does the drawer suspension stay quiet and cool during continuous all-day use?

Heavy-duty three-part telescoping steel ball-bearing suspension provides smooth operation without motors or fans, so there is no audible noise or heat buildup during extended use.

What must already be in place for the 693LQ to function as a secure filing cabinet?

The unit ships fully assembled with a HON One Key interchangeable core-removable lock, four adjustable leveling glides, and side-to-side hangrails for letter or legal folders — no extra parts are required.
