Four-drawer lateral file

The HON 694LL 600 Series lateral file provides four drawers for high-capacity filing in a 42 inch wide footprint. It suits offices that need letter or legal folders stored side-to-side in a single cabinet. The putty finish matches neutral workplace palettes.

Counterweight stability and smooth operation

A factory-installed counterweight prevents tipping when a heavily loaded drawer is extended. Telescoping ball-bearing suspension keeps drawer travel smooth and quiet during repeated daily use. Four adjustable leveling guides compensate for uneven floors to keep the unit stable.

Reinforced steel construction and security

Double-walled base construction and reinforced case steel add rigidity for long-term durability. The baked enamel finish over phosphate pretreatment resists rust and wear. A mechanical interlock allows only one drawer to open at a time, while the HON One Key core-removable lock secures both sides of every drawer.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 694LL lateral file and what step is often missed?

Position the cabinet, thread the four adjustable leveling guides into the base corners, turn each guide until the unit sits level front-to-back and side-to-side, then load files. The step often missed is checking level after the first drawer is weighted, because the double-walled base can settle slightly.

What maintenance or replacement will the 694LL need over time?

The ball-bearing telescoping suspension and mechanical interlock are lubricated for life; no routine service is required. If a label holder cracks or a hangrail bends, those individual plastic or metal parts can be replaced without tools. The baked enamel finish resists rust, so refinishing is not expected.

What limit appears first when the 694LL is used continuously in a busy office?

The mechanical interlock prevents more than one drawer opening at once, so the practical limit is sequential access speed — only one drawer cycle at a time. The counterweight keeps the 42" wide cabinet stable even with all four drawers extended, so tipping is not the limiting factor.
