Five-drawer lateral file for office storage

The HON 885LS 800 Series cabinet provides five drawers in a charcoal steel finish. The top drawer functions as a roll-out shelf with a posting shelf and receding flipper door. Four fixed drawers below accommodate letter-size or legal-size folders using included adjustable hangrails. This unit suits offices needing high-density lateral filing with integrated security features.

Verify floor space and access before ordering

The cabinet measures 67.00 inches high by 36.00 inches wide by 19.25 inches deep. Confirm the installation area accommodates these dimensions plus clearance for full drawer extension. Ensure doorways and hallways allow passage of a unit this size. The mechanical interlock permits only one drawer open at a time, so plan workflow around single-drawer access.

Steel construction with interlock and leveling

A baked enamel finish over phosphate pretreatment protects the steel case from rust. Three-part telescoping ball-bearing suspension ensures smooth drawer travel. The mechanical interlock prevents tipping by allowing only one drawer to open. Four adjustable leveling glides compensate for uneven floors. Dual side locks with HON One Key interchangeable cores secure both sides of each drawer.

Questions about this item

Does the 885LS ship with the counterweight and hangrails already installed, or do I need to order them separately?

The counterweight is included where required to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and each drawer comes with side-to-side hangrails for letter or legal folders, so no extra parts are needed for basic filing.

Should I choose the five-drawer 885LS or a smaller unit if my ceiling height is limited?

The 885LS stands 67.00 inches tall with five drawers, including a top roll-out shelf with posting shelf and flipper door; a shorter cabinet would reduce vertical storage but also lower the overall profile.

How does the 36.00-inch width affect the amount of letter-size folders I can store side-to-side?

Each 36.00-inch wide drawer accepts letter or legal folders on the included adjustable hangrails, and the mechanical interlock ensures only one drawer opens at a time for stable access to full drawer capacity.
