Honeywell 70e Black rugged mobile computer

The Honeywell 70e Black is a rugged enterprise hybrid device built for field workers who need a consumer-style handset that survives drops, dust and water. It runs Android 4.0 or Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 on a 1GHz TI OMAP processor with 512MB RAM and 1GB ROM. A 4.3 inch WVGA touch screen protected by Gorilla Glass supports glove and wet-finger operation. Integrated GPS, camera and dual-radio WWAN give voice and data connectivity on GSM and CDMA networks.

Check power, radio bands and software needs

Verify that your mobile device management platform supports Android 4.0 or Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 before deployment. Confirm that the GSM and CDMA frequency bands used in your region match the device radio specification. Ensure your workflow applications are compatible with the 800x480 resolution and the 512MB memory limit. Plan for spare standard 1670 mAh or extended 3340 mAh batteries and the proprietary USB charger to keep units powered across shifts.

Sustained field operation in harsh environments

The IP67 rating and 1.2 metre drop specification let the unit survive daily exposure to rain, dust and repeated impacts on concrete. Operating temperatures from -20°C to 50°C allow continuous use in cold storage and hot outdoor yards without thermal throttling. The Corning Gorilla Glass screen resists scratches that would degrade barcode scanning accuracy over time. Dual hot-swappable battery options maintain uptime during long routes where recharging is impractical.
