2D area imager scanner

The Honeywell 7580G-2 Genesis is a corded handheld imager that reads 1D and 2D barcodes with an 832 x 504 sensor. It connects over USB once the required interface cable is attached. The general-purpose ruggedness suits everyday indoor environments.

Retail checkout and light warehouse use

Cashiers and inventory staff who need a fixed-mount feel in a handheld shape will appreciate the area scan pattern. Operations that require wireless freedom or IP-rated sealing for wet or dusty conditions should consider a different form factor.

832 x 504 sensor resolution

The 832 by 504 pixel imager determines the smallest barcode elements the scanner can resolve and the depth of field it can cover. If your labels use high-density DataMatrix codes or must be read from a greater distance, verify that this resolution meets the requirement.

Questions about this item

Will the 7580G-2 work with my older USB host system?

The scanner connects via a corded USB interface, so it will operate on any host that supports a standard USB connection for HID keyboard or COM port emulation.

How can I verify the 832 x 504 imager is reading codes correctly after setup?

Scan a test barcode; the imager will beep and transmit the data to the active cursor position, confirming the sensor and decode are functioning.

Does the 7580G-2 include the interface cable or must I buy it separately?

The product requires an interface cable that is not included, so you must purchase a compatible USB cable separately.
