Honeywell QuantumT 3580 omnidirectional scanner

The Honeywell MK3580-31A38 is a new corded presentation scanner built for moderate-volume retail environments such as convenience stores, liquor outlets and pharmacies. It reads standard 1D and GS1 DataBar symbologies with an omnidirectional laser engine. The unit can be used hands-free on its weighted base or picked up for handheld scanning of bulky items. Buyers who need 2D imaging or wireless freedom should look elsewhere.

Scan performance and operating limits

Omnidirectional scanning runs at 1650 scan lines per second while single-line mode operates at 80 scan lines per second for targeted menu code reading. A minimum 35% print contrast ratio is required for reliable decoding. The scanner draws 1.4 W operating and 1.2 W standby from a 5 VDC ±25% supply. It is rated for -20 °C to 40 °C operation and survives 1.5 m drops. It will not read codes printed below the contrast threshold or survive immersion.

USB kit contents and mounting flexibility

The kit includes the black MS3580-38 scanner, a standard square weighted base (70-74588), a 2.8 m straight USB Type A cable (54-54235-N-3) and documentation. The base supports countertop or wall mounting and the scanner also sits free-standing. CodeGate™ single-line scanning is activated by a button press to reduce unwanted reads. No additional stands or wireless adapters are supplied.
