Product identity

The HP 17.3 inch laptop ships new with Windows 11 Home and a silver chassis. It pairs an Intel Core 5 120U processor with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe solid-state drive. A 17.3 inch FHD IPS panel at 300 nits completes the core specification.

Who this suits

The large anti-glare screen and full-size backlit keyboard suit office workers and students who want comfortable all-day viewing and numeric entry. The 41 Wh battery and integrated Iris Xe graphics limit unplugged runtime and 3D capability, so buyers who need extended mobile use or discrete GPU performance should look elsewhere.

Sustained behaviour

The 10-core 12-thread CPU can reach 5.0 GHz in short bursts but will throttle under continuous multi-threaded loads due to the slim thermal envelope. DDR4 3200 memory bandwidth and the PCIe NVMe drive keep everyday multitasking responsive, while Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 maintain steady wireless throughput during long sessions.

Questions about this item

Do I need to buy any extra RAM or storage for the 32 GB DDR4-3200 and 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD to work?

No. The laptop ships with 32 GB DDR4-3200 RAM and a 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD already installed, so it works out of the box.

Will my older USB-A mouse and HDMI 1.4 monitor connect to the two USB Type-A ports and the HDMI 1.4b port?

Yes. The two USB Type-A ports and the HDMI 1.4b port accept legacy USB-A devices and HDMI 1.4 displays without adapters.

How can I confirm the Intel Core 5 120U is hitting its 5.0 GHz boost and the Iris Xe graphics are active after setup?

Open Task Manager’s Performance tab to watch the CPU reach 5.0 GHz under load, and check Device Manager to verify Intel Iris Xe Graphics is listed as the display adapter.
