Core 5 120U laptop for office users

The HP 17 laptop ships with a 12-core Intel Core 5 120U processor that reaches 5.0 GHz maximum turbo frequency. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a two-terabyte SSD provide space for large document libraries and local backups. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed for managed-network environments.

Upgrade from dual-core 8 GB machines

Replacing a dual-core system with eight gigabytes of memory removes the bottleneck when multiple browser tabs, spreadsheets and video calls run together. The jump is worthwhile when daily work involves simultaneous cloud apps and local file indexing. Buyers who need discrete graphics for 3-D rendering or dedicated GPU compute should look elsewhere.

Sustained load on integrated graphics

Under continuous multi-threaded workloads the 12-core chip maintains elevated frequencies while Intel Graphics handles display output and light GPU tasks. The 17.3-inch HD+ panel runs at 1600 by 900 resolution without a touch layer. Thermal design keeps surface temperatures acceptable during extended office sessions.
