Everyday laptop for light tasks

The HP 17 ships with an Intel N100 processor that reaches 3.4 GHz across four cores and four threads. Integrated Intel UHD graphics handle basic video playback and web browsing. A 17.3 inch TN touchscreen shows a 1600 x 900 image at 60 Hz. The system includes 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB PCIe NVMe SSD running Windows 11 Home S-Mode.

Fanless design keeps noise low

The N100 operates without a fan, so the chassis stays silent during typical office work and streaming. A 45 W power adapter charges the 3 cell 41 WHr battery. Power draw remains modest thanks to the low base frequency of 800 MHz and the integrated graphics block. Surface temperatures stay comfortable on a desk or lap.

Dockztorm mouse adds wireless control

The bundled wireless mouse connects via its own receiver and requires no extra software. Windows 11 Home S-Mode restricts app installation to the Microsoft Store until the user switches out of S-Mode. The fingerprint reader and backlit keyboard improve login speed and low light typing. Ports include two USB 3.0 Type-A, one USB 3.1 Type-C, HDMI and a combo audio jack.

Questions about this item

How is the 128GB PCIe NVMe SSD installed and which step do people often miss?

The drive is already fitted in the M.2 slot; the step users miss is switching Windows 11 Home S-Mode to full Home before installing large applications.

What maintenance will the 41 WHr 3-Cell battery need later?

Expect capacity to fade after several hundred charge cycles; a replacement 3-Cell 41 WHr pack can be swapped by removing the bottom cover.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the N100 processor?

The 6 W thermal envelope throttles the 4-core CPU well before the 45 W adapter or 60 Hz TN panel become bottlenecks.
