ProCurve 3500-24-PoE Ethernet Switch

The ProCurve 3500-24-PoE is a managed Ethernet switch built on a programmable ProVision ASIC. It provides 24 network ports for small to medium business networks that require granular Quality of Service and security controls. The switch supports both Fast Ethernet and Gigabit connectivity in a single chassis.

20 Fast Ethernet and 4 Gigabit ports

Twenty ports operate at 10/100 Mbps while four ports and four expansion slots run at 1000 Mbps. This mix lets administrators connect legacy 10/100 devices and higher-speed uplinks or servers without separate switches. Integrated Power over Ethernet supplies compatible endpoints directly through the copper ports.

24 ports with Gigabit uplinks

The 24-port density comfortably handles wiring closets serving workstations, IP phones and access points. Four dedicated Gigabit ports plus four expansion slots provide uplink headroom for aggregation or fibre modules. Networks that need more than 24 copper ports or 10 Gigabit uplinks will require additional switching hardware.

Questions about this item

How many of the 24 ports support Power over Ethernet for devices such as access points?

The switch provides PoE on the 20 Fast Ethernet ports, while the four Gigabit ports and four expansion slots do not supply power.

Which port speed becomes the bottleneck when all 24 ports are saturated with traffic?

The 20 Fast Ethernet ports are limited to 100 Mbps each, so they reach capacity before the four Gigabit ports.

How much heat does the 3500-24-PoE generate when the PoE budget is fully used all day?

With 20 ports delivering PoE the chassis runs warmer than a non-PoE model, so ensure adequate rack airflow to keep temperatures stable.
