Layer 3 switch with PoE+

The HP 3810M is a Layer 3 switch designed for campus access networks. It provides 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports with PoE+ support for powering connected devices. An internal power supply and a single expansion slot complete the chassis. The switch runs on a ProVision ASIC and supports OpenFlow for SDN environments.

Suited for PoE edge deployments

This switch fits networks that need Layer 3 routing at the access layer and PoE+ for wireless access points or IP phones. The single slot allows one uplink or stacking module. Buyers who need more than 24 powered ports or redundant power supplies should consider a different platform.

24 PoE+ ports and one slot

The decisive specification is the combination of 24 10/100/1000 PoE+ ports and one expansion slot. That port count and slot limit define the scale of devices you can power and the uplink flexibility available in a single unit.

Questions about this item

Will the 24 PoE+ ports power older 802.11ac access points without extra injectors?

Yes, each of the 24 ports delivers PoE+ so compatible 802.11ac APs draw power directly from the switch.

Which front-panel LEDs confirm the 10/100/1000 links and PoE+ budget are active?

Port LEDs show link speed and PoE status; the system LED confirms the internal power supply is operating normally.

Does the package include a transceiver for the open module slot or must I order one separately?

The switch ships with the internal power supply installed; transceivers for the single module slot are sold separately.
