Processor heatsink for ProLiant BL685C G5 servers, 5.1 weight
This HP heatsink carries part number 409614-001 and is built for the ProLiant BL685C G5 server blade. It provides the thermal interface required by the processor socket in that platform. The unit ships new and weighs 5.1 with dimensional placeholders of 1 for height, width and length.
The heatsink mounts directly onto the processor socket inside the BL685C G5 blade using the native retention mechanism. No extra brackets or adapters are required for this specific model. A frequent problem is reusing old thermal compound, which reduces heat transfer and can trigger thermal throttling. Another issue occurs when the retention lever is not fully latched, leaving a gap between the heatsink base and the processor lid.

Power on the server and watch the POST screen for CPU temperature readings; the fans should spin up to normal idle speed and no thermal alerts should appear in the iLO log.
The package contains only the heatsink unit weighing 5.1; you will need to provide thermal paste and the retention bracket that matches the BL685C G5 socket.
