HP

HP 652597-S21 72GB 15000RPM 2.5" SAS internal hard drive

SKU CH-T4QJ-S8MZC

72 GB 15 000 RPM 2.5" SAS internal hard drive with hot-swap capability

  • 72GB capacity stores critical datasets
  • 15000RPM spindle delivers fast data access
  • SAS 3Gb/s interface enables direct server connection
  • 5-inch form factor fits dense drive bays
  • Hot-swap tray allows drive changes without downtime

Purpose-built server storage

The HP 652597-S21 is a new 72GB internal hard drive spinning at 15000RPM on a 2.5 inch SAS 3Gb/s single-port interface. Hot-swap capability allows replacement without powering down the host system. It targets administrators who need low-latency, high-IOPS storage for transaction-heavy workloads.

Fit and alternatives

This drive suits HP ProLiant and compatible SAS backplanes that accept 2.5 inch hot-swap carriers and operate at 3Gb/s link speed. Buyers who need more capacity per spindle, 6Gb/s or 12Gb/s throughput, dual-port redundancy, or larger form-factor bays should look at other models.

Deciding specification

The 3Gb/s SAS single-port interface determines controller and backplane compatibility; the drive will not negotiate faster link speeds or provide multipath failover. Verify that your server or array supports 3Gb/s single-port SAS before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Will the 15000RPM spindle motor or SAS interface need replacement first?

The 15000RPM spindle motor in this 2.5" SAS drive will typically wear before the SAS 3Gb/s interface, so plan for mechanical replacement after extended use.

What limit appears first during sustained writes on the 72GB capacity?

The 3Gb/s SAS interface saturates before the 72GB platter area fills, so sustained write throughput is capped by the link speed.

How much heat and noise does the 15000RPM drive produce running all day?

A 15000RPM 2.5" SAS drive generates noticeable heat and audible whine during continuous operation; ensure adequate airflow in the bay.
