HP Mini SAS SFF-8087 cable for ProLiant servers

This 20 inch cable connects internal storage devices using the Mini SAS SFF-8087 interface. It is designed for HP ProLiant server configurations that require a direct SAS link between a controller and a backplane or drive cage. The part number 654073-001 identifies the specific assembly for compatible HP systems.

Passive cable with no active cooling or power draw

As a passive copper assembly, the cable generates no heat and produces no audible noise during operation. It draws no electrical power beyond the signal transmission between connected SAS ports. The lightweight construction at 5.1 units adds negligible strain to drive cage connectors or controller brackets.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the HP 654073-001 Mini SAS SFF-8087 cable to my server backplane?

Align the keyed SFF-8087 connector with the port on the backplane and press firmly until the latch clicks; the 20 inch length is designed for short internal runs so avoid sharp bends near the plug.

When should I replace the HP 654073-001 cable in a production server?

Replace it if the latch no longer holds, if you see cracked insulation or bent pins on the SFF-8087 ends, or after any chassis maintenance that may have stressed the 20 inch run.
