Questions about this item

Does the 45 W Smart adapter run hot or make noise when powering a notebook all day?

The adapter delivers 19.5 V at up to 2.31 A for a total of 45 W; it has no fan, so it operates silently and its temperature will depend on load and ventilation.

What must I already own for the 741727-001 to charge my notebook?

You need an HP Pavilion 14, 15 or 17 series notebook that accepts a 19.5 V DC input and a standard C5 or C7 mains lead for the wall socket.

Will the Smart adapter work with an older HP Pavilion that originally used a different charger?

It replaces part numbers 740015-002 and 741727-001 and matches the listed Pavilion 14-e019tx through 15-e060se models, so any notebook in that list can use it.
