HP Z4 G5 Xeon W5-2445 workstation

This HP Z4 G5 tower workstation ships new with a 10-core Intel Xeon W5-2445 processor running at 3.1 GHz. It includes 16 GB of DDR5 memory and a 512 GB SSD with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed. The system uses an Intel W790 chipset and a Serial ATA/600 controller in a black chassis.

Upgrading from older Xeon or Core workstations

Moving to this platform adds a deca-core Xeon CPU and DDR5 memory bandwidth for rendering, simulation and large dataset tasks. The jump is worth it when current hardware throttles under sustained multi-threaded loads or lacks certified pro-application stability. Tool-less access simplifies future GPU, memory and storage expansion.

Suited for professionals needing certified

Engineers, video editors and data scientists who require 360K-hour tested hardware, military-standard validation and HP Wolf Security will benefit. Buyers who need front-accessible NVMe bays or higher core counts out of the box should evaluate other configurations. Monitor not included.

Questions about this item

What tower clearance and power connectors does the HP Z4 G5 need for a full-length graphics card?

The tower chassis fits full-length cards and the tool-less design gives direct access to the PCIe slots; the 10-core Xeon W5-2445 at 3.10 GHz leaves headroom for high-end GPUs.

Which step do builders skip when adding DDR5 memory to the Z4 G5 workstation?

They often forget to seat each 16 GB DDR5 module until the ejector clips click, then fail to enable the correct memory profile in the BIOS before installing Windows 11 Pro.

When should the front-accessible NVMe drive be replaced in this 512 GB SSD configuration?

Replace the NVMe drive when SMART health drops below 80 percent or after the 360 K-hour testing rating is exceeded under heavy render workloads.
