HP 300GB 15K SAS laptop drive

The HP 867254-001 is a new 300GB 2.5-inch internal hard drive with a SAS interface spinning at 15000 RPM. It delivers a 12Gb/s transfer rate and supports hot-swap tray installation. This drive suits enterprise laptops and mobile workstations that require high-speed SAS storage in a compact form factor.

Buyers who need a SAS 12Gb/s interface

This drive suits system integrators and IT professionals replacing a failed HP 867254-001 or expanding a compatible SAS bay. It does not suit buyers who require a different interface protocol or a lower spindle speed for reduced power draw.

12Gb/s SAS transfer rate decides fit

The single specification that determines compatibility is the 12Gb/s SAS transfer rate. The host system must support this exact signalling speed and the 2.5-inch hot-swap tray format for the drive to function correctly.

Questions about this item

How do I install the HP 867254-001 2.5-inch SAS drive in a hot-swap bay, and what step is often missed?

Slide the drive into the bay until the SAS connector seats firmly; the step often missed is ensuring the latch clicks fully to lock the hot-swap tray in place.

What maintenance or replacement will the 15000 RPM SAS drive need later?

Mechanical wear on the 15K spindle and bearings is the primary replacement factor; plan for drive replacement once SMART reallocated-sector counts rise or seek errors appear.

What limit appears first on the 12Gb/s SAS interface during sustained writes?

The 15000 RPM mechanical media transfer rate saturates before the 12Gb/s SAS bus, so sustained throughput is capped by the drive's physical write speed.
