Network-ready colour laser printer

The HP Color LaserJet CP4525N is a new network colour laser printer supplied with a generic toner bundle. It prints both black and colour pages at up to 42 ppm with a 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution. The unit ships with power and network cables included.

Ethernet connectivity for shared printing

The decisive specification is the built-in Ethernet interface supporting 10Base-T, 100Base-TX and 1000Base-T networks. This makes the printer suitable for workgroups that need a shared colour device without relying on USB. Buyers who want wireless or direct USB printing should look elsewhere.

Simple rack-in setup with toner pre-installed

Installation consists of connecting the Ethernet cable, powering on and loading paper into the 600-sheet input tray. The generic toner cartridges are already fitted, so first-page output is immediate. The only common issue is cosmetic discoloration on the chassis, which does not affect print quality.

Questions about this item

What does 42 ppm mean for everyday printing?

It prints up to 42 black or colour pages per minute, so a 100-page document finishes in roughly two to three minutes.

How does the Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T port limit network speed?

The port caps at 1 Gbps, which is faster than the printer’s 800 MHz processor can feed, so the network will not be the bottleneck.

What clearance does the 600-sheet input tray need?

The tray pulls out from the front, so allow at least the tray depth plus a few centimetres in front of the unit for paper loading.
