Enterprise colour laser printer

The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553DN is a network-ready colour laser printer built for office workgroups. It prints up to 40 ppm in both black and colour at 1200 x 1200 dpi. Automatic duplex printing and a 650-sheet input capacity support continuous output. Ethernet connectivity integrates directly into wired LAN environments.

Who it suits and who it does not

This printer suits teams that need fast, double-sided colour documents on a wired network. It is not for buyers who require Wi-Fi or USB host printing, or for users who need the unit to ship with toner cartridges included.

Deciding specification

Ethernet (RJ-45) is the sole network interface. If your infrastructure relies on wireless or direct USB connections, this model will not connect without additional hardware.

Questions about this item

Will the 1200 x 1200 dpi print quality match the output of my older office printer?

This model prints at 1200 x 1200 dpi in both colour and black, so text and graphics will be at least as sharp as most legacy devices.

How can I confirm the 40 ppm speed is achieved after connecting via Ethernet?

Print a test page from the 4-line colour LCD menu; the first page appears in about 6 seconds and sustained runs reach the rated 40 ppm.

Does the box include toner cartridges or only the maintenance kit items?

The unit ships with a new maintenance kit installed but does not come with toner; cartridges must be purchased separately.
