Enterprise colour laser printer

The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M651DN is a network-ready colour laser printer built for workgroups that need consistent duplex output. It prints up to 45 pages per minute in both black and colour at 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution. A 4.3 inch resistive touch display provides direct job control. Ethernet connectivity integrates the device into existing wired networks.

Upgrade from single-function or simplex devices

This model replaces single-sided printers and smaller desktop lasers when two-sided printing and higher volume capacity become necessary. The 600-sheet input tray and automatic duplex engine reduce manual reloads for multi-page documents. First page out time of 9 seconds supports short-run jobs without long warm-up delays. It is not for buyers who need wireless or mobile printing without adding external hardware.

Ethernet and USB 2.0 interface limits

The printer relies on a wired Ethernet RJ-45 link and a USB 2.0 port for host connection. Maximum print size is 8.5 x 14 inches with a minimum of 3 x 5 inches. No Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cloud printing protocols are built in. The unit ships without toner cartridges, so supplies must be sourced separately before first use.

Questions about this item

What desk space does the M651DN need for its 600-sheet input capacity?

The printer accepts up to 600 sheets in its standard trays and handles media up to 8.5 x 14 in, so allow enough clearance for the tray to extend fully and for the output bin to open.

How do I connect the CZ256A to the network and what step is often missed?

Plug an Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 port, then use the 4.3 in resistive touch display to configure the IP address; the step many skip is printing a configuration page to verify the network settings before sending jobs.

Which consumable will need replacement first on the M651DN?

The unit ships without toner, so the initial toner cartridges must be installed before the first print; after that, the fuser film and transfer roller are the long-life items that will eventually require service.
