Enterprise colour laser for high-volume teams

The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M653DN delivers 60 ppm in both black and colour at 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution. It holds 650 sheets in its input tray and prints automatically on both sides. A 4.3 inch display with keypad provides direct control. Ethernet connectivity integrates the unit into office networks. The printer ships with a new maintenance kit installed.

Suited to departments needing fast duplex colour

This model fits workgroups that print large daily volumes and require automatic two-sided printing. Buyers who need wireless or USB host printing from thumb drives should look elsewhere. The unit arrives without toner cartridges, so supplies must be sourced separately. Organisations requiring on-site service contracts will need to arrange coverage independently.

Ethernet network interface decides fit

The sole wired network connection is a standard RJ-45 Ethernet port. If your infrastructure relies on Wi-Fi, USB direct printing or cloud-based queueing, this printer cannot connect without additional hardware. Verify that your print server and firewall policies support a wired Ethernet device before purchase.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the 60 ppm engine run during an all-day print shift?

The 60 ppm engine is designed for continuous enterprise duty cycles; the new maintenance kit keeps temperatures stable and fan noise at typical office levels.

Which cables or network gear must I already have to connect the Ethernet RJ-45 port?

A standard Cat 5e or Cat 6 patch cable and a network switch or router with a free RJ-45 port are required.

Will the USB 2.0 port and 4.3 inch display work with the Windows 7 workstation I still keep?

Yes, the USB 2.0 interface and colour touchscreen are backward-compatible with Windows 7 and later operating systems.
