Product identity

The HP Color LaserJet Pro M477FDW is a colour multifunction laser printer bundled with four toner cartridges. It prints, copies and scans at up to 28 pages per minute in both monochrome and colour. The 300-sheet input tray supports automatic duplex output. Ethernet connectivity fits the device into a wired office network.

Deciding specification

The 600 x 600 dpi print resolution determines whether text and graphics meet your quality threshold. At this resolution the printer is suited to general business documents, reports and internal presentations. Buyers who need finer detail for professional marketing collateral or photographic proofing will find the output insufficient.

Thermals noise and power

Laser printing fuses toner with heat, so the unit warms up during extended runs and the cooling fan becomes audible in a quiet room. In normal intermittent use the printer settles to a low standby hum. Power draw peaks while the fuser reaches temperature and drops between jobs.

Questions about this item

What does 28 pages per minute mean when I am printing a typical office document?

The engine prints up to 28 black or colour pages each minute, so a 30-page report finishes in just over a minute once the job starts.

What does the Ethernet connection limit in daily use?

The RJ-45 port lets the printer join a wired network for printing, scanning and faxing from any connected PC.

How much desk space and paper capacity does the M477FDW need?

The tray holds 300 sheets and the output bin stacks 300 pages, so the footprint stays the same while you load a full ream.
